The movie follows Jon (Andrew Garfield), a younger theater composer who is waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next wonderful American musical.
Days, before he’s because of showcasing his paintings in a make-or-wreck performance, Jon, is feeling the strain from everywhere: from his lady friend Susan, who goals of an artistic lifestyle past New York City; from his buddy Michael, who has moved on from his dream to a life of economic safety; amidst an artistic community being ravaged by the AIDS epidemic.
